Why speak at Alt Legal Events?

At Alt Legal, we’re actively seeking dynamic, diverse, and forward-thinking speakers to contribute their expertise on important topics in IP and trademark law, as well as on effective strategies for running an IP department or law firm.

  • Broad Outreach and Networking: Our network will connect you with over 10,000 trademark professionals, one of the largest audiences of trademark practitioners in the world. Speaking at our events allows you to engage with this high-quality, engaged community and expand your own network.
  • High Engagement: Our live events vary in size and format, but all draw a highly-sophisticated and diverse audience of trademark professionals. Small scale events range from 20-75 attendees and large scale events range from 150-250 attendees.
  • Lasting Impact: Our team prepares write-ups about our live events, including session-specific summaries, which we make available on the Alt Legal Blog and the Alt Legal Resource Library, giving your contributions extended visibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • As the “I 💗 Trademarks” company, our community primarily consists of trademark practitioners, which includes attorneys as well as TMAs (paralegals, legal assistants, and other administrators). They work in diverse settings—from AmLaw 10 firms and Fortune 50 companies to regional firms and solo practices, both in the U.S. and globally. While most specialize in trademark prosecution, we also have a fair number of litigators and patent attorneys. What unites them is a passion for learning and, of course, for trademarks and the intellectual property landscape.

  • There’s no fee to present for Alt Legal. If we’ve invited you to speak, it’s because we believe you have valuable insights and knowledge to share with our audience.

  • Our event invitations are shared with thousands of trademark professionals and attract hundreds of unique registrants annually. Your event will also be promoted in the “I 💗 Trademarks” Newsletter (read by thousands of IP professionals weekly) and across our popular social media channels. We also ensure continued visibility by creating event write-ups which will appear on the Alt Legal Blog and the Alt Legal Resource Library long after the event concludes.

  • Event costs vary. While some events are free, others require infrastructure and CLE accreditation costs and we will charge attendees reasonable fees to attend. We are always very cost-conscious and work hard to keep registration fees affordable.

  • If you are presenting for CLE, to meet CLE requirements across multiple jurisdictions, we ask that your presentation last 60 minutes, including Q&A. Unless we’ve arranged for something different, please allocate 60 minutes in total for your presentation.

  • No, one of the key reasons that our community of event attendees is so engaged is that Alt Legal Events focus on knowledge sharing, not business solicitation.

  • Absolutely! Our Head of Education, Bri Van Til, is a former educator and can guide you in tailoring your presentation for our audience. She can assist in narrowing down your topic, suggest areas to expand or condense, and more. Whether you’re a first-timer or an experienced presenter, we’re committed to helping you succeed.

  • Once. We work hard to diversify our speaker pool and to amplify new and different voices, so we don't repeat speakers in the same format (ex. webinar, event, Alt Legal Trademark Paralegal Course, I ♡ Trademarks Conference). The quest for new and different speakers helps ensure our audience hears new and different perspectives, ideas, and strategies.

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to cover your travel expenses or provide a speaking stipend. This helps us keep registration fees low for all participants. However, we will cover your registration fee, allowing you to participate in the event beyond your speaking obligation and earn CLE when applicable.
