< 1 min read

In this webinar, Mark Leonard (General Counsel for Jelly Belly Candy Company) discusses the unique challenges in protecting IP for food products and how those challenges inform strategies for CPG brand protection generally.

Mark dives into the various types of IP that are or can be used to protect foods and brands: from trademarks—including nontraditional trademarks for shapes and colors—and utility patents to copyrights and trade secrets. He gives examples of the different types and discusses key examples of the strengths and limitations of each type of protection.

Host Bio: Mark Leonard is General Counsel for Jelly Belly Candy Company and is responsible for all company litigation and all legal matters related to intellectual property, e-commerce, inbound and outbound licensing, marketing, international distributors, and ingredient and packaging regulatory compliance. Prior to this, Mr. Leonard was a partner in a boutique law firm specializing in areas of trademark, copyright, e-commerce, litigation and art-law to clients throughout California, the United States and around the world.
