Trademark paralegals, legal assistants, docketers, legal secretaries, or other trademark administrators (TMAs) often feel limited in their salary negotiations because they don’t have enough information about salary and benefit expectations in our specific industry. To help empower them—and you—in salary negotiations, the Trademark Administrators’ Exchange (TMAE) has commissioned a survey.
Alt Legal will analyze the data and compile the information into an easy-to-read report to help you compare your compensation level with your peers in terms of organization size and type, location, seniority, job responsibilities, and more.
The survey is fully anonymous and takes about 15 minutes to complete. After you complete the survey, you can enter to win a $100 Amazon gift card; just follow the link on the confirmation page.
In 2023, the TMAE conducted a similar salary survey of trademark administrators and received over 250 responses. The survey revealed that total compensation packages ranged from less than $40,000 to $300,000.
The survey results were met with universally positive feedback. So in 2024, we decided to keep the momentum going and launch the survey again to a larger audience with even more detailed questions. The hope was to increase the amount of data we have to analyze to provide even more information to guide salary negotiations. You can review the survey results here.
The 2024 survey was very well-received and had a true impact. We were thrilled to learn that preliminary data from the survey helped several respondents negotiate salary increases, with one reporting to us a a 30% raise!
In the time since the last survey, AI and other tech integration has become mandatory for a lot of TMAs, and current economic conditions are adding pressure to the existing market. Therefore, we’ve decided to offer the survey again to refresh the data and arm trademark professionals with updated information to inform and help guide their salary discussions.
