Emil J. Ali is a partner at Carr Butterfield, LLC where he provides legal representation of patent and trademark attorneys in professional conduct investigations and enforcement actions initiated by the OED and state bars. Formerly at OED, Emil helped to promulgate the USPTO Rules of Professional Conduct and is a registered patent attorney. As the one of the only former OED attorneys actively representing clients before OED, his unique experience affords him a unique understanding of the regulation of IP professionals from multiple perspectives. Emil is also an adjunct professor at Lewis and Clark School of law and Vice Chair of the ABA-IPL Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee.
