TMAE Summit RoundtablesPolice Academy: Strategies for Trademark Enforcement
Bri Van Til | October 02, 2026
We’ll be making the most of our time during the lunch hour at the TMAE Summit by hosting small roundtable discussions on a variety of relevant topics. Each roundtable will have a host assigned to lead the discussion with pertinent questions, allowing you to share knowledge and resources and get to know your fellow conference attendees.
Roundtable Description
We all know that monitoring a mark is crucial for its protection, but keeping up with watch notices can be daunting. A flood of reports is only useful if someone knows how to separate real threats from noise. And from there, determining how to meet the threat can be just as significant as recognizing the threat in the first place. Determining whether to place friendly phone call, send a formal cease and desist letter, or initiate a full opposition or cancellation proceeding can make the difference between quick resolution and huge legal bills. As TMAs take on more of this strategic judgment alongside attorneys, building a repeatable process matters as much as any single decision.
In this roundtable, Joe Quinn from Alt Legal will lead a discussion on building that works for your organization. Participants will discuss:
- What to have monitored and at what level
- How to review incoming reports
- Where technology can speed up review
- How to weigh enforcement options
