TMAE Summit RoundtablesThe A(I)-Team: Partnering with AI to Evolve the TMA Role
Alt Legal Team | July 26, 2025
We’ll be making the most of our time during the lunch hour at the TMAE Summit by hosting small roundtable discussions on a variety of relevant topics. Each roundtable will have a host assigned to lead the discussion with pertinent questions, allowing you to share knowledge and resources and get to know your fellow conference attendees.
Roundtable Description
As AI tools continue to reshape the legal landscape, trademark professionals—particularly TMAs—are uniquely positioned to evolve their roles and add even greater strategic value. Rather than being a threat, AI presents a powerful opportunity to rethink traditional workflows, automate routine tasks, and create space for higher-impact work. In this interactive roundtable, Kathleen Jose—Senior Program Manager of the Brand Protection Team at Uber—will lead a discussion about how TMAs can harness AI to enhance their work, upskill in an evolving environment, and become active drivers of innovation within their teams. The session will also explore how to reframe AI not as a replacement, but as a collaborative tool—a smart legal assistant that works with TMAs to elevate their capabilities, not erase them. Participants will:
- Discuss practical ways TMAs are already using AI to improve accuracy and efficiency in trademark operations
- Explore strategies to identify automation opportunities in day-to-day TMA workflows
- Reframe AI as a supportive extension of the TMA toolkit, rather than a threat to job security
- Consider how adopting AI tools can shift the TMA role from task-based to more strategic and programmatic
- Share concerns and challenges around AI adoption—and brainstorm solutions together
- Leave with inspiration and tips for initiating AI-led improvements in their own organizations
