In Deep(fake) Trouble

Bills targeting deepfakes have been signed into law in Michigan.

A bipartisan group of attorneys general is attempting to stop deepfake pornography by banning credit card payments for the content. It’s unclear if the move has come because Taylor Swift’s fans are up in arms about deepfakes of the celebrity.

Deepfakes of CEOs are apparently getting better as AI technology is allowing for the instant recreation of faces and voices. Yikes.

The famous Brunetti was recently back in the CAFC to argue against a failure-to-function refusal of his trademark application for FUCK. The court has remanded part of the case back to the TTAB for clarification.

This summer, Hofstra University had a student suffer a heart attack while taking the bar exam. The other students in the room were required to continue their testing, so there’s a petition being circulated to change policies in the future.

AI company Anthropic has settled with authors who were suing the company for copyright infringement for allegedly using their works to train Claude.
