Of course, 2025 was no different for us at Alt Legal. Alt Legal introduced countless new features and updated existing features, all to make the lives of trademark professionals like you easier. The catalyst for these enhancements has always been the valuable feedback from our customers who share how we can continue to streamline trademark management for them.

Below are some of the new features and updates that we’ve introduced throughout 2025. We’re also excited to give you a sneak preview of our 2026 product development roadmap. Trademark Application Match to Monitor Trademarks Globally

We expanded our Trademark Application Match service, which now monitors newly-filed word mark applications in over 170 countries. Receive alerts when trademark applications match the literal elements of your docketed marks—helping you protect your trademarks worldwide.

Trademark protection has long been an all-or-nothing decision due to high costs. Brand owners have either invested heavily in monitoring their trademarks, or taken no action at all, leaving their valuable intellectual property vulnerable.

With Alt Legal Trademark Protection, which includes Trademark Application Match and §2(d) Trademark Watch , brand owners now have access to a cost-effective, flat-fee solution that makes it easy to monitor and protect your entire global trademark portfolio. Now, you can proactively safeguard your brand with tools that are affordable, reliable, and built for modern businesses.

Alt Legal API

Related Matters

We’re upgraded the way you can connect matters together. Here’s a list of what you can now do:

1. Add matters that are simply for reference
2. Convert reference matters (see above) into a docketed matter
3. Use tabs view to help your related matters stay organized and easy to locate, and
4. Handle duplicate matters by selecting the one that’s most relevant.
5. Define the “reverse relationship” in case it is different from the main relationship. For example, set one matter as a parent and another as a child to get a full picture of their relationship that depends on where you are viewing it from.

Ease of Use

At Alt Legal, we are always looking for ways to make our easy-to-use software even more user-friendly. Based on customer feedback, we’ve developed a number of new and updated features to improve the user experience including:

• Common Law Trademark Handling: Alt Legal now provides common law trademarks as a new matter type. Specialized fields such as Seniority Note and Areas of Use allow you to maintain these records accurately.
• Duplication of All Matter Types: We’ve expanded your ability to duplicate matters. You can now duplicate any matter type.
• Quick Search Bar: We’ve added the ability to send Quick Search results to your table view, allowing you to further refine your filters or export the results.
• Updated Browser Tab Titles: The browser tabs will now tell you where you are in the software and list matter titles when you’re on a detail page.
• Owner Field Update: Alt Legal now has custom ownership fields on USPTO and CIPO matters. We’ve upgraded all ownership fields to make it easier to locate and apply specific owners and descriptions.
• Tables: We’ve enhanced the capabilities of our current tables (Matters + Entries) to offer more functionality and customization.
• USPTO Due Date Adjustments: Alt Legal automatically adjusts USPTO trademark deadlines that land on weekends and holidays to the next business day in accordance with the TMEP §308. We now offer the option to turn off this functionality so that you see the exact date regardless of whether it falls on a weekend or holiday.

Improvements

Throughout 2025, we’ve made improvements to several Alt Legal docketing features that make it easier for users to access information quickly including:

• Quick Search Bar performance improvements
• Docket Table performance improvements
• WIPO docketing improvements, such as multi-add per jurisdiction

Sneak Peek – Upcoming Developments for 2026

At Alt Legal, we are never done innovating. More than 50% of revenue is invested right back into our product. We merge our technology and deep knowledge of trademark law with the voice of our customers to constantly improve and expand the value of Alt Legal. In 2025, you can expect to see the same pace of innovation (if not faster) that you’ve become accustomed to with Alt Legal. In particular, here are some updates we plan to release in 2025:

• AI Reporting Assistant: Leverage AI to build reports! This tool brings the functionality of our filters into an easy to use prompting system. Even if you’ve never used our filters before, our AI reporting assistant will help you craft a report.
• Goods & Services Drafting Tool: Utilizing an underlying AI layer, we’ll help you interpret or directly craft the best goods and services description for your USPTO (and eventually global) filings
• Change Log: Each docketed matter will have a log of historical actions so that users can review all changes made.
• Docket Tables: Table improvements (Matters + Entries) will be introduced with enhanced capabilities to offer more functionality and customization.
• Design Matter Type: You’ll be able to docket design matters similarly to trademarks and patents with specialized fields and interactions.
• Owner Address Updates: Owner address will operate across all matter types in a unified way.
• Bulk Editing: Adding customer-facing bulk editing tools, allowing users to make adjustments to their docket across multiple matters at once.
